The Postmodern Openings journal aims to promote excellence in social and humanist research with reference to the local-universal dynamics in the context of globalization. Postmodernity is a key moment for the interpenetration of the values of national or spiritual collective identity with global pseudo-identities. The deconstruction of values, a specific sign of postmodernity, primarily affects local spiritual and cultural identities.

We understand postmodernity as a revolution of the individual in front of the Universe, in the sense of asserting the individual and deconstructing any structures, while transmodernity is a return to the founding unit. The crises of the postmodern society, generated by consumerism and post-industrialism, are - for a representative of the transmodern paradigm - signs of a "fractal growth" on another horizon, neither superior nor inferior qualitatively, signs of another modulation of the same fundamental experience of One. The twentieth-century "linguistic rotation" had as its starting point, the concept of structure. Postmodernism starts from the deconstruction of the representation structures, precisely with the argument of the idea of language play, as a "grammar" of the understanding of reality. Postmodernity also emphasizes the power of the word in instituting the world. Removing the transcendent into the postmodernity that gives birth to a new humanism "beyond man" is the nothingness, the nothing. Existentialist humanism still preserves the "Being" as a metaphorical reference, which it counters against anything. Transmodernity coexists at the moment with postmodernity, therefore many identify the two paradigms, considering them as one cultural matrix. We prefer to distinguish, as a difference between the two models, a "centripetal" focusing tendency in the fundamental unity of the world for transmodernism, namely, a "centrifugal" tendency, deconstructive, specific to postmodernity.
