REC Ethics casuistry |

# December 2nd, 2021 | duplicate content ethical issue and copyright license infringement |

The current case is discussing a duplicate content ethical issue and copyright license infringement.
The editorial of LUMEN PHS journal was notified by the editors of another scientific journal that a paper published in our publication was already first published in theirs.

The authors submitted the article to two different publications at the same time and it seems that both publications accepted the paper to be published.

The editor informed us that based on their journal records the article was selected for publication in the 2020 volume (due to be published online in April 2021) and it appears the authors agreed on the 4th of March 2021 that their article to be published in the initial publication, not in LUMEN PHS journal.

The authors sent their agreement for publication in LUMEN PHS journal on April 27th, 2021.

Based on the current international standards of publication ethics and to the copyright licences of both of each journal , an article cannot be published in two journals simultaneously.

Respecting the ethical guidelines announced on our journal's website, our journal publishes only original contributions that have not been published elsewhere.

The LUMEN Committee for Research and Publication Ethics is analysing the information received from both editors and authors involved and will announce its final decision.

In the meantime, the article is signaled on the html page as being subject of an ongoing ethical case.
