As indicated by the concept of a 21st-century education, the system of education is enhanced by the principles of humanization and individualization, which takes into consideration the personal and psychophysical characteristics of children and creates educational conditions facilitating timely and comprehensive development of all aspects of the child’s personality. The research aims to develop theoretical foundations and technologies of social and educational support for the rehabilitation and social adaptation of children with special needs in the industrial region. The regional programme of social and pedagogical support of children with special needs, suggested by this research, is based on the idea of targeted orientation and complexity of social and educational assistance to every child with psychophysical problems. The control (CG) and experimental (EG) groups, involving 2470 and 2485 respondents respectively, were formed following such parameters as age, place of residence, type of educational institution, etc. It is found that the levels of life competency in the EG have increased more than in the CG. Many years of experience in the experimental organization of social and educational support for the rehabilitation and social adaptation of children with special needs makes it possible to conclude that timely and early social and educational support is a priority area in the development of life competency in children with psychophysical problems since it benefits from the capacities of the industrial region, creates a favourable rehabilitation environment and takes into account the most productive age for the rehabilitation and social adaptation.References
