ROMANIA AND NEW RELIGIOUS CHALLENGES OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION AND GLOBALIZATION

Return of Romania in the European space after removing of the isolationism imposed by the communist period, implies openness to the world of religious life . An important dimension and specific in the Europeanization process it represents in our country case the orthodoxy . Alongside this, however, and the other religions recognized are distinguished by their own religious traditions dowry . Simultaneously with the political and economic effort initiated by the Romanian state in the sense Westernization, it stands thus a renewal effort in the religious life . This means autonomy and separation of church and state , organization and institutionalization of religious life as a civilian activity ( nonpolitical ) religious equal opportunities , recognizing the right of every religious and faithful to manifest freely, in accordance with their religious creed. The presence of our country in the European Union family looming therefore a good opportunity to assess the ability of the Church to meet the challenges and risks . New realities require developing integration strategies and their controlled connection to Western modernity .References
