“The jukebox of dreams” is a successful metaphor of the abyss of daily human existence: if without dreams man remains only a simple artifact, in the exclusive intimacy of this artifact – hypostasized, in the poem that gives the title of the volume, , but completely diverting it from its original purpose. Just as in the Eliadic exegesis, the conclusion that is asserted, in the end, highlights the primacy of essences, to the detriment of the artifices that human existence superimposes on them, with the mention – that it is, in itself, a wake-up call – that through this process the essences are no longer recognized as such. The bottomless forms eventually suppress the very ability of the individual to distinguish between essence and appearance, so that the possibility of returning from this state of existential collapse becomes completely utopian. Let us not be surprised, therefore, that the poet does not even state it. The obviously ironic style, which his lyrics adopt, harmonizes perfectly with the content addressed. And the general effect of reading is not limited, despite this finding, to gestures of resignation: in the end, out of all this postmodern “adventure” of man, at least the search remains.
