The Place of the Intellectual in the Contemporary World. An Opinion on the Issue Addressed in the Novel „Mic Dejun la Café de Flore” [Breakfast at Café de Flore] Authored by Elena Adriana Dobrinoiu

Abstract

This article is about an anthropological and philosophical analysis of the novel „Mic Dejun la Café de Flore”, a novel authored by Elena Adriana Dobrinoiu and published at Lumen Publishing in 2024. Our analysis has as its main subject the place of the intellectual and especially of the intellectual engagement in the public space - either in politics or journalism – analysis that is occasioned by the reading of the autobiographical novel by Elena Adriana Dobrinoiu, a novel that was read in the key to a possible answer to the question whether and what place the intellectual has in the contemporary world, at least in the current Western cultural space.
