To find out the “hidden meaning” we feel the need for a guide. The father of the notion of “esotericism” is Pythagoras, for him esotericism meant “to open the door”, “to allow entry”. Those who entered the Institute, the famous initiation school of Pythagoras, were called “esoteric”, and those left outside “exoteric” (profane). At the entrance gate to the Institute the inscription “Keep away exoterics” was engraved. (The author)
