Description:

The initial title of this book, “Ontological pluralism” and the idea of “common sense” from the perspective of analytical philosophy, suggests, at first glance, an extremely complex and difficult enterprise. The same can be said about the title I chose for the second edition: Existence and knowledge: Bertrand Russell between idealism and realism. The decision to change the title was motivated by the need to express in a more concise way the objective of the research carried out for the design of this book: that of analyzing how the ontology and epistemology of Bertrand Russell interlace in his writings, resulting in a philosophical work as complex, as it is original. Also, it was necessary for the title to specify that the analyzes and comments in this book are focused on a single philosopher: although general considerations and even specific analyzes are present (as is the case with those of George Edward Moore’s contribution to the development of analytical philosophy), their purpose is to emphasize the context in which the ontology and the Russellian epistemology originated.
