Description:

The theme proposed by this paper refers to the stages of Nichita Stanescu’s poetry in the process of crystallizing an authentic vision of the poet on the world and, above all, on the word. We will follow the transformations that the word undergoes throughout his work, from the physical hypostasis, in full fusion with nature and with the poet’s feelings, passing through the disturbing experiment of rupture, to the transgression to the non-physical word and the establishment of metalinguistic poetry. Nichita Stanescu’s poetry struck from the beginning, announcing not only the definitive rupture with the ankylosing proletarian dogmas, but a real “change in the face” of Romanian lyric poetry. The novelty of Stanescu’s poetic approach lies not so much in recovering the values of modernism, but especially in their overcoming towards a poetics of their own, different from everything that had been poetry before. It was said that after Nichita Stanescu it is no longer possible to write as before him.
