Description:

The most important interwar prose writers are known as novelists, although some of them also write stories, sketches or short stories. The writers who made their debut as storytellers (Mihail Sadoveanu, Gala Galaction, Liviu Rebreanu, Hortensia Papadat-Bengescu, Ion Agarbiceanu, etc.), before the First World War, now dedicate themselves to the novel. After the First World War, two literary paradigms are outlined in Romanian prose, influenced by the currents of the time, modernism and traditionalism, which are in a continuous polemical dialogue.
