Reading poems by Dana Dascalu, I have the feeling that sometimes the meaning of the words is abstracted, modifying her semantic stance: “I have come to believe in a silence that divides the swirling time into a great cascade of dreams.” And when the “silence”, “the swirling time” and the “cascade of dreams” carry with them different meanings than their own, the force of poetry becomes unmatched. About “words – vehicles for ideas”, I often speak at my students’ courses, but the meaning of this statement is found in Dana Dascalu’s poetry, an even more spectacular form of embodiment: The emotion! This is perhaps the main challenge of the new volume of lyrics that the talented author is now releasing. Going through her poems, we often came to real empathic exercises, identifying the incubation state of the feeling that precedes creation.
