Description:

The volume deals with two fundamental approaches: deriving an ontology of the tragic starting from the research methods of these philosophers and identifying the perspective (implicit or explicit) of the philosophers analyze on the tragic. In the preamble of the paper, the author makes a definition of the tragic, followed by an ontology, with an inclination towards the structure of consciousness and the problem of meaning in tragism. In the following six parts the problematic of the tragic is presented in the works of the main French existential philosophers: Maurice Merleau – Ponty, Jean Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Albert Camus and Emanuel Levinas. The volume represents a broad and substantial x-ray of the different hypostases that the tragic can take in human life and especially of the transformations it produces on human existence. The completion of this work presents the tragic as a necessary state of human consciousness, for its removal from many inadequate projects completed at one time. (The author)
