Description:
The volume “Towards a New Ethical Expertise – Deconstructing Ethical Values”, which Ana Frunza brings to the readers, although it represents her PhD thesis, proves a profound scientific maturity both in using the philosophical perspectives that emphasize ethical expertise, as well as in the specific methodology of the applied ethics. The intention of the book is to universalize ethical expertise until it encompasses the whole area of social action. Ethical expertise represents a cross-disciplinary intersection between theoretical ethics, philosophy of action and public policy research, strategies of social intervention, social communication and communicative action, the sociology of quality of life. The author’s effort is as commendable as it excels in structuring and restraining ethical expertise, using the tools that each of these fields provides with maximum efficiency. BOOK REVIEW
MURESAN, VALENTIN. (2016). Thoughts on the New Ethics Expertise. Book Review. Postmodern Openings, 7(1), 179-182.
What I appreciate most about this book – and its author – is the spirit of tolerance and interdisciplinary cooperation. For Ms. Frunza travelled to Bucharest to meet Oxfordian philosophers and did not step aside from making „deconstruction” and „ethical management” coexist in her book. Similarly, I also believe the topic of moral communication, for example, is vital not only for phenomenologists, but also for the institutional and professionals ethics in general. The topic of the book is discovering new forms of ethics expertise in the organizational context, while deconstructing a number of ethical values, such as „authonomy”, „liberty”, „justice”, „equality” etc.
