The monographic unfolding of the research of the history of the Japca monastery benefited from Ion Xenofontov’s book with connections to what the monastery and the community, the monastery and society meant and also the interference of the political power over the monastic life and the extra-religious constraints on the monastery. From the historiographic perspective, the present research manages to associate the actual history of the monastic settlement to the “great history” of the territory of Bessarabia, in which the political, cultural and religious history of this land is recognized as the monastery’s history, more precisely the way in which the refractions are recognized and the great history-reality identifies at the level of the monastery history from Japca.
