Description:
The first chapter is the one that highlights the forms of international crisis and the ways to solve them, according to the Charter of the United Nations. A clear distinction is made between international conflicts, protected conflicts and the war itself, in order to then analyze the characteristics of the measures that can be taken to stop their escalation. Thus, the actions related to preventive diplomacy, imposition, construction and maintenance of peace are analyzed. Chapters two and three are devoted to the analysis of the two bodies, which are currently trying to provide the collective security framework: NATO and the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. Chapter two presents, in addition to the history, the founding treaty and the strategic concept of the organization, pros and cons on the future of NATO. The purpose of the chapter is to present the problems facing NATO and thus the need for assistance in the fight against conflicts. Chapter three outlines the characteristics of that policy, which could come to the aid of NATO, the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union. The focus in this chapter is on those elements which, if properly developed, will turn the CFSP into a reliable instrument of collective security. (The author)
