The concept of social policy is very broad, and my experience as a researcher in the field of social policies has often led me to wonder if there is no possibility of including in a systematized framework the main scientific approaches in the field. In the study of social policies, an active attitude was preferred, to approach concrete policies, either by evaluating them, comparing them or analyzing the problems that generated them. The works of social policy methodology are less numerous. The explanation can be related to the increased interest in concrete (applied) research but also to the assumption that the methodology is the same as that of social science research. This paper aims to show how social research influences social policy decisions at different stages of the policy formulation process. (The author)
