Description:

This volume aims to analyze change as a fundamental process in the practice of social assistance, starting from the conception that, regardless of the situation of the client (be it an individual, family or a community), change, at least the reference point, it can lead to improvement if not problem solving. The practice of social assistance should always be seen as an aid to people to bring about change in their relationships with other individuals, groups, organizations or social systems. For a long time, social assistance provided to the family was known as “family cassework”. This terminology was justified by the objective of social services to ensure the protection and well-being of the family. The new terminology “family therapy” highlights the fact that the subject of change is the family itself as a whole. The new perspective was offered by the analysis of the causes and at the same time of the consequences of the difficulties expressed by different family members. Each family is distinguished by the communicative network and the structure of the relations between the subsystems.
